Rattler fun: Take a Noosa Country Drive through the Noosa hinterland and Mary Valley to the historic Mary Valley Rattler steam train station in Gympie. Travel on a beautifully restored heritage train through the Mary Valley and its towns. The C17 steam train takes you between the historic Gympie Station with its cafe and museum, to Amamoor in the Mary Valley - return journey every Wed, Sat and Sun. If you’re driving, head a bit further on to Gateway Dve for some great warehouse-style fashion and homewares showrooms, or take the Noosa Ferry to Noosa Marina, Tewantin for boutiques, gifts, restaurants and bars on the river

Horse riding:
Go horse riding in Noosa through bush, lake, rainforest or open beaches. Equathon has daily horse riding tours along Noosa North Shore beaches and a 7-day bush tour.  Fun on the water: Jump on a jet ski for an adrenalin rush on the Noosa River or join a guided jet ski tour in Laguna Bay, off Noosa’s Main Beach and around Noosa National Park. Markets, movie and art:
Take a Noosa Country Drive to Pomona, about 25 minutes from Noosa Heads, on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month for the Pomona Country Markets, 7am-noon, with fresh food, fruit and vegies, local arts and crafts, musicians and more. Then head to the grand Majestic Theatre in Pomona for a silent film screening, $15 adult, free for school-aged kids, tickets at the door (ph 5485 2330). Also visit the Pomona Railway Station Art Gallery and Noosa Museum in Pomona.

National Park:
Take a walk or run through the Noosa National Park, just minutes from Hastings St, with coastal tracks with gorgeous views across Laguna Bay to Noosa North Shore – you may even spot a whale, koala, dolphin or turtle! Inland tracks take you through rainforest and eucalypt woodlands. Drop into the Visitor Information Centre in Hastings St or the park’s information centre, open 7 days

River of mirrors:
Discover the Noosa Everglades, the river of mirrors, with its magnificent wildlife and pristine wilderness with a range of guided and self-guided kayak tours, or by boat from Noosaville. Ask at the Visitor Information Centre, Hastings St, Noosa Heads or phone 1 3000 NOOSA (66672)

Sunset cruise:
The Noosa River at sunset is a beautiful way to start the evening and a cruise is a great way to arrive at dinner! Noosa Ferry has sunset cruises between Hastings St and Noosa Marina, Tues-Sat – ph 5449 8442. Noosa River & Canal Cruises leave from Noosaville and Noosa Heads, Wed-Sat, BYO snacks and drinks and they'll supply the glasses and ice buckets – ph 0414 727 765. Fraser fun:
