Exhibitions April 12 - May 12

The Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre exhibition program recommenced on 12 April with four very diverse exhibitions. Three female artists at very different stages of their careers provide a rich tapestry of imagery using photography, collage and painting - see them in the front three galleries.

Saren Dobkins’s collection of 30 years of her work, titled Hiding in Plain Sight, brings together aspects of self-portraiture, in painterly vignettes that reflect facets of personal experience, and self-reflection.

Helen Saint-Smith’s exhibition, Collage Exposed, is a fun, colourful and eclectic collection of collage works on canvas, with subjects stretching from Antarctica to Portugal, with many stops on the Sunshine Coast.

Lauren Manser, in her first solo exhibition titled Emergence, features beautiful images of the Tasmanian landscape, after rediscovering her creative self after working in the mining industry.

In the large back space, Hoofbeats Sanctuary returns with its annual fundraising exhibition to aid its equine therapy and trauma recovery programs. According to CEO Barb Blashki: "The sanctuary is home to a herd of ten horses and ponies, most of which have experienced big life stressors in their own lives, making them the perfect teachers.”

The exhibition titled Seeing the Soul: The Human-Animal Connection this year expands to include works that depict the relationships and deep bonds that occur between animals and humans, rather than just horses and humans.

All of these exhibitions run from April 12 to May 12. Open: Tuesday to Sunday from 10am - 3pm 11 Maple St, Cooroy.
